Master Leather Crafter & Production Supervisor

Job Description

 

The Master craftsperson joining the Pingree Mfg team(The new name we're rolling out for Boots on the Ground) will be someone with skills in pattern making, industrial sewing, and small-scale production. The crafter will be equipped to lead and develop our team of novice leather manufacturing artisans and artisan sewers as we create world-class footwear & accessories from reclaimed materials made in the USA including leather from the auto industry and military-grade rubber.

 

General duties and responsibilities:

  • Creates master pattern of shoe upper design cuts pattern into individual parts preparatory to making template

  • Helps compile manufacturing data from design specifications

  • May prepare pattern template.

  • Maintains adequate staffing levels by assessing, orienting, and training employees; developing personal growth opportunities within the assigned group.

  • Maintains work-flow by monitoring steps of the process; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; identifying cost reductions opportunities; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within the assigned group.

  • Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results, etc.

  • Maintains quality by establishing and enforcing organization standards.

  • Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs.

  • Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, recordkeeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements; implementing changes.

  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.

  • Other responsibilities may be assigned from time to time.

  • Ability to operate production machinery

  • Strong supervisory abilities

  • Controls and Instrumentation

  • Dealing with Complexity

 

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • 10+ years working with leather(boot and apparel/accessories applications preferred)

  • At least 5 years of recent experience working as a production supervisor in a manufacturing facility.

  • Sound knowledge of manufacturing and testing of leather goods

  • Experience working with footwear is preferred

 

Compensation:

Competitve base pay + overtime, an equity stake in this start-up, profit sharing, and quarterly performance based bonuses.
