B.O.G. GUIDING PRINCIPLES

  • Serve those who have served

  • Place-based leadership with compensation & profit sharing decided democratically

  • Self Determination: The community can and must speak for itself regarding decisions that will affect them

  • Triple bottom line: Equal weight and value on people, planet and profit. Prioritize the health and well-being of our workers and the ecosystem we are connected with

  • B.O.G. Stakeholders include the life giving systems around us and  decisions are filtered through the lens of how it will impact life 7 generations from now

KEEP IT SIMPLE

Our lead-off product is a durable, hand-made work boot constructed in Detroit with hemp, recycled tires, and other locally sourced materials that have a neutral ecological footprint. Our work is grounded in the awareness that cooperation, localization, regenerative design, and open source solutions are some the best tools we have to make a world where all life can thrive.

KEEP IT SUSTAINABLE

B.O.G. affirms humanity's responsibility to steward rather than exploit the land, air, water, and surrounding ecosystems that all life depends on for survival.  We improve our watersheds by working towards eliminating all harmful chemicals from the entire life cycle of our process and invite competitors and partners to do the same. We choose hemp over other resource and carbon intensive materials because hemp has anti-fungal properties, grows organically and rapidly without the need for any pesticides, heals the surrounding environment, reduces climate change causing emissions, and aligns with our commitment to localization.

KEEP IT STRONG

We are bringing manufacturing jobs back home while affirming America’s duty to support our veterans. Our strength comes from our commitment to place-based leadership and community rooted development that identifies and elevates the unique skills and assets of a given neighborhood. We honor labor instead of exploiting it. All our products are developed to benefit the surrounding community economically, ecologically, and socially. Instead of working to live better than others, reimagine what’s possible when communities reorganize themselves around everything living well.

KEEP IT LOCAL

When we do well our neighbors and community do well. The impact of every Detroit-made B.O.G. purchase is multiplied because we source materials and brilliance locally. Profits are shared with our workers, investors, surrounding community, and other social impact initiatives that benefit veterans or contribute to neighborhood restoration and resilience.

We have an Opportunity to do More than Pay a Living Wage. We aim to Reimagine what it Means to Wage a Living!
